The enclosure of a courtyard for this residence provided the opportunity to fully exploit transparency between house and garden.

All walls onto the court are glazed, with sliding doors throughout. A striated pattern of bluestone paving travels across the glazed wall, forming the floor of both court and house. The garden entrance is defined by placement of a freestanding bluestone wall that provides support for a table, a shelf, viewing portals, and a source of water. Planting transitions from minimal and austere at the door to thick and varied along the courtyard edge.
