Eric Kramer Delivers Closing Keynote for NJ ASLA 2020
Eric Kramer delivered the closing keynote at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the New Jersey Chapter of the ASLA. The meeting concluded with Eric’s presentation, The Nature of Culture: Context and Content, focusing on Reed Hilderbrand’s view of culture and nature as equal players in the shaping of designed landscapes. The presentation demonstrated how several ongoing projects, ranging in scale from single-family residence to regional master plan, find a voice through thoughtfully considered materiality, detail, values, and significance. The presentation also covered the role of culture as a weapon rather than a tool in today’s political climate alongside the harnessing of cultural trends to galvanize communities around change.
